. >> just look at the beginning of the debate from wednesday night, the moment that governor romney and president obama came on stage, tell me what you see. >> well, i see the president going into what i call the politician's handshake, high on the arm, i'm in control, i'm the alpha here, setting the tone for how he thinks the debate is going to be going. >> that's the hand on the arm. >> higher on the arm, the more power and control that person is showing, and it's very typical of politicians to do that. high on the arm handshake to show that control. >> and that's power. >> okay. >> and there's a lot -- >> do you notice they continue to hit each other, what is that? >> that's a guy thing? >> that's a debate thing. >> the hitting says, hey, i like you, but there's other people watching. >> so when you go back to the podium though, when they actually started the debate, the president has taken a lot of heat, a lot of criticism for looking down. >> yes. >> shaking his head, nodding a lot. >> yes. and the downward motion, he wanted to stay contained. he was really, really upset with how m

this is a lousy economy. 1.3% gdp growth is lousy, and yet on wednesday night, mitt romney said again -- and by the way, barack obama backs up his claim that either one of them will create 12 million jobs in four years. that is 3 million jobs a year or 250,000 jobs a month. we got 114. at 3% economic growth, there is not an economist in this country who thinks it will be higher than 3% in 2013, 3% in 2014 and 3% in 2015. what does mitt romney think of that? >> i don't know if he's going to get 12. i'm not a romney surrogate. i'm not in the campaign. i've never talked to the campaign. i had nothing to do with the romney -- i just believed this number should not determine the outcome of the presidential election. did you see today -- >> i agree with you. jack, you're a hero. you're a hero to businesspeople in this country. you're a hero to all sorts of people. let's just do it right now and you can go back to what you say. you did not cook the books, did you? >> i should have put a question mark behind it. >> so you believe it would have been seen as more of a provocative statement. >>

what do you say to mitt romney? >> well, first of all, i do think the start of the presidential campaign in some ways start wd the debate the other night. i think only partisans watch the convention. a lot of the real undecided voters started to tune in. he had a good night, he can build on that. i think what he has to do, though, is not just become the biggest critic of the president. i think other people can do that effectively. he has to start showing his vision and how to give hope to people of why america is going to be better under mitt romney and also let them see him personally. get to know him and see that he's actually a pretty darn likeable guy once you get to know him. >> can he win from here, do you think, john? >> oh, absolutely. i mean, we have already seen some of the polls that came out today since the debates show a great tightening. we have also seen there's been a big influx of money for mitt romney which will for the first time put him on an even parity with obama on advertising, and like i said
